With more than 15 years of international experience in Art therapy, Maria Cucuetu brings a deeply inclusive, trauma-informed, and creatively grounded approach to mental-health care. She holds a Master’s degree in Art Therapy from Universidad de Barcelona, and has practiced across Europe(Germany and Spain) and North America in hospitals, schools, research settings, private practice, and community organizations.
Maria brings extensive clinical experience working with neurodivergent children, tweens, teens, and adults. Her practice focuses on supporting children and adolescents facing school-related challenges, anxiety and emotional regulation difficulties. She has significant experience working with autistic children, as well as children with brain injuries, trauma, and cognitive, sensory, or physical challenges.
Maria also works with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, and trauma, and supports individuals navigating major life transitions such as separation, grief, relocation, or identity shifts. Through a compassionate, strengths-based, and creative therapeutic approach, she helps clients build resilience, improve emotional well-being, and regain a sense of confidence and empowerment.
Drawing from trauma-informed care, mindfulness-based techniques, psychodynamic principles, and person-centered practices, her integrative method accompanies clients in their healing process through attentive listening, empathy, and compassion, while supporting creative expression, emotional regulation, and identity development within a safe and inclusive environment. She offers both individual and group art-therapy sessions, in person and online, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to adapt interventions to clients’ developmental and cultural needs.
Her research background includes participation in an Art-therapy research study focused on anxiety and social isolation in partnership with Concordia University. She is fluent in English and Spanish, and work proficient in French and German, which allows her to provide culturally responsive care in diverse settings.
