Amanda Petrik-Gardner joins Dr. Tamara Soles to discuss Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRB). Amanda describes the different BFRB’s including Trichotillomania (hair pulling disorder) and Excoriation (skin picking disorder). We discuss the differences between habits and BFRB, whether anxiety is always at the root, and how BFRBs differ from OCD compulsions. Amanda helps us understand the various functions of BFRBs including sensory, cognitive, emotional, and motor elements. Amanda also reviews the various treatment models including the most current Comprehensive Model of Behaviour (ComB Model) for treating Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors.
