Hagit Malikin is a doctoral candidate at McGill University in the School/Applied Child psychology program and a student member of L’Ordre des Psychologues du Quebec (OPQ), under the supervision of Dr. Tamara Soles.
Hagit’s doctoral research focuses on the examination of parental emotion socialization practices and children’s emotion regulation development.
Her research experience in child emotion regulation and parenting help inform her clinical practice to provide evidence-based treatments for the children and families that she works with.
Hagit has worked in community centre, private practice, and high school settings. She has worked with children, adolescents, and parents dealing with issues such as behavioural difficulties, emotion regulation, anxiety, depression, and parent-child relationships. Tailored to each individual, Hagit incorporates an attachment based approach and evidence based treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy when working with individuals and families.
Hagit aims to work collaboratively with her clients to help them achieve their goals. She is passionate about helping parents learn more about themselves and explore new tools and methods to support their children’s needs. Additionally, Hagit enjoys working with youth to help foster greater understanding of their emotional experiences and guide them in achieving greater wellbeing.
