Maria Brown is a senior doctoral candidate in the School/Applied Child Psychology program at McGill University and a student member of the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec (OPQ), under the supervision of Dr. Tamara Soles. Her doctoral research explores treatment outcomes and predictors for children with emotional and behavioral difficulties in a day hospital program, with a focus on personalizing interventions.
Maria has extensive experience providing psychotherapy and psychological assessments in private practice, hospital, and community settings. She has worked with children, adolescents, and young adults facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, neurodivergence (ADHD/ASD), emotional dysregulation, perfectionism, and suicidal ideation. Her approach integrates evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), tailored to the unique needs of each client.
Maria’s work is grounded in a compassionate, collaborative, and neurodivergent-affirmative framework, recognizing the importance of contextualizing challenges within clients’ social environments. She strives to empower clients and their families by fostering understanding and providing tools to achieve their goals.
