
Dr. Tamara Soles is the founder and director of The Secure Child. She is a psychologist and member of the Ordre des Psychologues du Quebec. She created the online parenting course No More Power Struggles. She completed her Doctoral Degree in School and Applied Child Psychology at McGill University.
Dr. Soles has worked with children and families dealing with a wide range of issues including emotion regulation, anxiety, ADHD, behaviour or learning difficulties, anger management/tantrums, colic and sleep challenges, attachment difficulties, autism spectrum disorders, foster placements, child abuse and trauma. Dr. Soles works from the perspective of attachment theory and incorporates the latest research from interpersonal neurobiology. She uses a strength-based approach to help each family determine what works for them. Evidence based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and parent coaching models are incorporated to improve specific challenges. Dr. Soles has extensive experience working with families from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds and works closely with families to provide culturally sensitive services.
In addition to her work at The Secure Child, Dr. Soles has been a lecturer at McGill University teaching Child and Adolescent therapy at the graduate level and supervising doctoral students in the psychoeducational and counselling clinic. Dr. Soles has also served as research coordinator for the Couple and Family Therapy Clinic at the Institute of Community and Family Psychiatry at the Jewish General Hospital. Previously, Dr. Soles spent six years in Los Angeles, CA where she completed a clinical internship and a two-year post-doctoral fellowship specializing in Early Childhood Mental Health at the UCEDD Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). After completing her fellowship, Dr. Soles served as a supervising psychologist at CHLA and was then made the Clinical Director of Project ABC, an Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health system of care funded by the US Department of Health and Human Services (SAMHSA).
